Brains is a Member of Cowtown Mustache and Beard Society. He’s a speedo wearing Mutton Chops sporting U.S. Army Veteran. Since starting in 2017 he has competed in 38 competitions in multiple categories, and has judged 15 competitions. He placed 4th at the 2019 National Beard and Mustache Competition, and 6th in the Great American Beard and Mustache Championships in 2018 both in the Mutton Chops category.
He won best in show at Mobb Fest 2019 and Midwest Facial Hair Showdown 2019, but says that the charities that these competitions support are the main reason he competes. He started competing in the 6"-8" Full Beard category, but dropped the clean cut style, and shaved it down the middle, and threw on the Speedo, and became the Brains we know and love today.
